Beach Bum Workout

Get your posterior ready for the waves

No wonder personal trainer Triana Cristobal has lean muscles as evidence of being in tip-top shape (she somehow has what we have coined impossibly beautiful "back abs"), she is an ex-ballerina and graduate of Kirov Academy. Now a certified fitness professional based in Los Angeles, we proudly consider her an official member of our JAM team - basically kicks our bodies into shape with all encompassing, subtle but thorough, fun by changing, manageable workouts. Here's one for the bum...

Do 2 sets of twelve, each side on all following 7 positions:

  1. Tabletop Position: right forearm down, knee circles - keep a 90 degree angle, hip rotates down
  2. Développé Position: unfold the leg slowly, keep back toes open and reaching toward the back, keep the knee open
  3. Rotating Leg Lift: start with back leg cross and keep the knee touching outside of opposite leg, stay pulled up on standing leg/hip. Then for rotating leg lift, rotate from the hip socket, engage the glute muscle as toes reach back
  4. Standing Series: elbow to knee twist, engage the core, hold the elbow/knee connection, look towards lifting leg
  5. Standing Leg Lifts: keep toes behind you
  6. Squat Twists: press into standing heel as you squat, engage exterior rotator (hip) muscles, rotating both shoulders to the direction of pressing hand
  7. Squat Twist Pulses
