Zandra Rhodes

In Living Coral

When Amanda also reached out to Zandra Rhodes in London to hear her thoughts on our color in the world and in her fashion, the designer magically had her documentarian film her colorful reaction. Zandra's own lifestyle is as dramatic, glamorous and extroverted as her designs. With her bright pink hair, theatrical make-up and jewelery, she has stamped her identity on the international world of fashion.

2019 marks the year of Zandra Rhodes 50th anniversary in fashion. Zandra Rhodes: 50 Fabulous Years in Fashion is being published by Yale University Press in fall 2019. This book commemorates Zandra Rhodes, one of Britain’s most recognized designers, and will coincide with an exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum titled ‘Zandra Rhodes: 50 Years of Fabulous’ starting September 27, 2019.

She has designed for clients as diverse as Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Onassis, HRH Princess Michael of Kent, Debbie Harry, Kylie Minogue, Paris Hilton, Joan Rivers, Isabella Blow, and Freddie Mercury of the rock group Queen.

Zandra was made a Commander of the British Empire in 1997 in recognition of her contribution to fashion and textiles, has nine Honorary Doctorates and has been made a Dame in the Queen’s 2014 Honors list.
