Dough & Cheese
pizza making
A last minute, get-out-of-the-city day trip turned into joining a socially distanced cooking class in bucolic Ojai, California. We recruited a few family members in our isolation bubble for the past five months to take the hour and half drive, no traffic, from Los Angeles into some nature. JAM founder, Helen, and her daughter have had fun finding culinary experiences while traveling over the years - french macarons, holiday cookies, chocolate truffles, ceviche (ten kinds!) in Barcelona last summer and memorable, prerequisite pasta making in Italy several years ago, part of a bucket list birthday trip. (See photos below.)
Now a days, they find themselves cooking at home, self-made epicureans, like many of us still in con-tin-ued quarantine. Pizza is an easy one to order for delivery or take out but it was so fun getting to make some (safely) in person from scratch - not just sticky, yeasty dough but fresh mozzarella from cheese curds and this time, unlike at home, somewhere with hired professionals to teach us proper technique and to help clean up the big, awesome mess. (See video above.)
