Pajama Program offers bedtime resources and sleep education nationwide, as well as through local programs in New York City, Atlanta, and metro-Detroit. More than ever, displaced families need support and acts of kindness including a comforting bedtime story and cozy pajamas.
Volunteer at a local reading center if in New York City or Atlanta, join a community fundraiser, sign up to become a virtual volunteer by reading and recording a children's bedtime story or donate funds: $25 delivers a new pair of pajamas and an inspiring storybook to a child facing adversity. For more information check out their site: www.pajamaprogram.org
During the holidays, there are many charities very busy helping those in need. Try searching "local blanket drive" and find an event happening near you to donate a blanket for the homeless. Find toy drives, food banks, holiday pantries, grocery deliveries, Salvation Army...if you want to help out or donate. www.satruck.org
If you’re feeling a desire to volunteer but lost on where to begin, get help finding your cause with the many options through L.A. Works which include mentoring low-income high school students, planting trees, chatting with senior citizens over the phone, participating in virtual Zoomba classes for special-needs youth, serving meals to the homeless, supporting COVID-19 testing, or advocating for racial justice (like the nonprofit’s MLK Day—a series of virtual and interactive events taking place in January 2021): www.laworks.com
